Le souccot U+2721 est un abri contemporain constitué d’éléments simples et naturels.
Un toit constitué d’environ 1500 feuilles végétales réparties sur 6 couches, est posé sur 3 murs opaques connexes, également constitués d’un assemblage de feuilles.
Durant le jour, les feuilles créent une ombre abstraite à l’intérieur et autour de l’abri, mais laissent suffisamment passer le regard pour pouvoir observer le ciel la nuit.
Une fois par jour, lorsque le soleil est au zénith, les feuilles, agencées selon une structure géométrique triangulaire, produisent une ombre particulière sur le sol, devant l’abri. Cette ombre est en réalité un motif, se référant au symbole judaïque de l’étoile de david. L’image, clairement visible durant une courte période d’environ 5 minutes, créé à elle seule un moment précieux et éphémère. Elle redevient ensuite peu à peu abstraite, la forme des feuilles se distingue à nouveau.
Le nom U+2721 est issu de l’encodage informatique de l’étoile de david en caractères unicode. Ce code fait référence à l’image transcrite et cachée dans l’arrangement apparemment chaotique des feuilles.

The « U+2721 Sukkah » is a contemporary shelter built (mainly) of simple and natural elements.
The around 1500 leaf fragments/elements distributed across 6 individual layers create a tree-like roof, resting on 3 dense walls made of the same (natural) material.
The leaves create an abstract shadow inside and around the Sukkah during daytime and still allow to look through it to see the sky and (/or) the stars at night.
Once a day, when the sun reaches its zenith, the leaf shapes align to a geometric structure/grid and create a patterned shadow based on triangles in front of the Sukkah and by this refers to the central jewish motive, the Star of David. This image on the ground only remains visible for a short period of time of about 5 minutes, and creates an ephemeral, precious moment.
At noon the shadow reaches its maximum density and then dissolves again into an abstract, moving picture of leaf shaped elements.
The name « U+2721 Sukkah » is derived from the Unicode Character for the Star of David on everyday computer(s) and links back to the encoded image hidden in the chaotic arrangement of leafs in the roof structure.
